Listening Activity #14 - Rolling with Dirty Loops

March 4, 2018

Dirty Loops are a Swedish band who took the internet by storm in 2012 with a series of covers. The trio took existing popular songs, rearranged them and had musicians all over the world trying to figure out how they did it.

This song is a cover of Adele's hit 'Rolling In The Deep'. If you don't know it, listen to the original here:

There isn't much apart from the melody that Dirty Loops don't change.

  • How many strings does the bass have? Why does it have so many?

  • How is the tempo different to the original?

  • Where do the other voices come from in the chorus?

  • What do the bass and piano do from 1:52 to 2:20?

  • Is this version in the same key as the original?
